Cough Remedies

A cough is a reaction to dust, smoke, or a foreign body. Whenever there is an obstruction in the upper airways or in the throat, our brain thinks this as a foreign object and try to relieve this through coughing. But medical attention is needed if only there is a continuous coughing for more than 2 weeks.

Causes of Cough

  1. Viral infection such as common cold and flu 
  2. Smoking habits
  3. Asthma and bronchitis
  4. Whooping cough or tuberculosis
  5. Pneumonia, clot in the lung, or cancer of the lung 
 Home Remedies for Cough



Take 2-3 peppercorns with a pinch of black cumin seeds (shah jeera) and a pinch of salt orally



Take 3-5 drops of clove oil mixed with a clove of crushed garlic and half teaspoon of honey to smoothen the throat.



In a cup of boiling water, add 1 teaspoon turmeric powder and 1 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain) and boil till it becomes half and then add 1 teaspoon of honey. Take it twice a day. 



Take 1 teaspoon of holy basil leaves that is mixed with honey.
 


Take some saffron strands made into a thick paste with one betel leaf.  Apply it on the baby’s forehead and soles of the feet.
