Home Remedies For Acidity

What is acidity?

An excessive digestive acids produced by the stomach causes gas, which results in the condition called acidity. Ulcers, dyspepsia, and heartburn are some of the other symptoms. It is more common in all ages but highly in nervous and emotional people.  It occurs mostly after meals and when straining intra-abdominal area by applying pressure and lifting weights.


Causes of Acidity
 

Due to excessive intake of spicy foods.

Lack of exercise and irregular eating habits

Can be due to consumption of alcohol frequently

Use of NSAID’s (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs)

Regular non-vegetarian foods

 

Natural Home Remedies for Acidity



Simply drinking one or two glasses of water will help flush out excess acids in your stomach.

If you frequently suffer from acidity, drink a glass of lukewarm water every day before going to sleep and immediately after waking up in the morning. Also, never drink water during or immediately after a meal, it can lead to improper digestion that can contribute to acidity.



Use crushed dried basil leaves (Tulsi) about one table spoon with water for instant relief.



Cinnamon powder about half teaspoon boiled for few minutes and taken 2-3 times in a day gives a very good relief from acidity.



Add few drops of lemon juice to the glass of buttermilk and drink after five minutes



Cloves eaten directly or chewed thoroughly to get its juice into your system minimize acid troubles.



Keep sucking a small piece of jaggery after each meal, it subsides acidity. This remedy is not for the one who has diabetes.



Add one teaspoon of Saunf (aniseed) to the one cup of water and boil it. Leave it overnight and strain the water in the morning next day and add little honey to this water and take three times a day to prevent acidity.
