Breast Cancer - How To Prevent Breast Cancer ?

How to Prevent Breast Cancer ?

Although nothing can be done against breast cancer for risk factors such as a family history of breast cancer, other factors such as lifestyle habits can be changed to lower the risk or prevent breast cancer considerably.

Lifestyle changes to prevent breast cancer:

Limiting alcohol intake

Stop smoking

Keep the weight in control

Physical activity that is moderate-to-vigorous can help maintaining a healthy weight and thus reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Breast-feeding – Studies shows that women who choose to breastfeed are less likely to develop cancer as compared to women who does not breastfeed, the logic behind is that breastfeed women ovulate less regularly that keeps estrogen levels in stable position.

By limiting the dosage and duration of hormone therapy, as in hormone therapy women are kept on a combination of two hormones estrogen and progesterone, which increase the risk of breast cancer.

A healthy diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, fish, and low-fat dairy products has been considered to decrease the risk of breast cancer.

By detecting breast cancer in its early stages by performing regular self-checking themselves, by consulting a physician for any lumps found in either of the breasts, or by being cautious about any family history of breast cancer and discussion with a physician about the same.
