The Best Time To Get Pregnant

The best time to get pregnant

Menstrual Cycle and the Most Fertile Days

A woman is more likely to get pregnant if she has the sex within the days of ovulation (on the days of releasing an egg from the ovary). This occurs usually after 14 days of the first day of her last periods. An egg lives for about 12-24 hours after being released from the ovary and it should must be fertilized by a sperm during this time for the pregnancy to take place. Sperm lives for up to 7 days inside the body of a woman in the fallopian tubes to meet the egg when it gets released.  So having sex in these 12-16 days of menstrual cycle that is after the periods, increase the chances of getting pregnant.

After fertilization takes place, which occurs in the fallopian tubes, there will be a rapid division of cells in the zygote. The developing embryo then travels towards the uterine cavity. The uterine lining is prepared to receive it by the action of hormone estrogen and progesterone. These hormones come from her ovary. If conditions are favorable enough, the developing embryo settles down and delves into the uterine lining and starts developing further. This process is called ‘implantation’ and usually happens 6 days after fertilization.

The walls of the growing embryo release a unique hormone called hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin) that enters the mothers blood stream and is also passed in her urine. This molecule hCG is detected through pregnancy tests.

Note: It is important to note that there are so many factors involved in the process. Some of them are:

Right timing of intercourse that is around ovulation time. Check for your ovulation time here.

Then a healthy sperms should reach and fertilizing the egg.

Then the fertilized egg travelling to the uterine cavity.

The uterine lining (endometrium) then should be well prepared to receive the embryo.

Then a successful implantation should occur and then a proper development of the embryo under the influence of many factors.

This is just only the beginning of your long journey and there are many steps involved from here to your actual maternity that is delivering a healthy baby.
